Pair of Samson Chelsea Style Bocage Figurines

A pair of Samson Chelsea style figures of a pair of musicians standing beneath flowering trees with rococo bases most likely made by the Paris firm of Edme Samson. In the style of 18th century Chelsea with a gold anchor mark.

They are in overall very good condition, however the man has his little finger missing on his right hand and his little and ring finger missing on his right. Minor loss to brocage. The bottoms of the pipes maybe missing.

The lady has her index finger missing on her left hand, her foot has been re-glued and minor loss to brocage as to be expected on delicate items of this age.

They stand approx. 25.5cm high x 15cm wide.

Edmé Samson (1830–1913). The firm either drew inspiration from other factories, or directly copied their pieces. Designs from the factories of Meissen, Sèvres, Chelsea, and Derby were among the reproductions Samson, Edmé et Cie produced, along with designs copied from and all the major factories of England, France and Germany.
